How to wear the Boyfriend Jean

This is one fashion trend that took a while for me to fall in love with, but as designers have tailored it be more feminine and less frumpy, I've really started to embrace it. Celebrities like Katie Holmes, Rachel Bilson and Reese Witherspoon are a few of the pioneers who helped to bring this slouchy style to life. Although some have worn it much more successfully than others, we have learned some valuable insights into wearing this trend.
1) Avoid baggy, super saggy styles. A relaxed, straight leg style that sits low, but comfortably on your hips will give your the right amount of bagginess without looking sloppy. In my humble opinion, nothing ruins this look more than morbidly skinny celebrities wearing jeans that are 5 sizes too big!
2) Keep it feminine. A tailored, yet girly top tucked into your jean can be very chic. Tight fitting tees, tanks and fitted button front tops are no brainers when you want to play up the masculine look or are just looking for the easiest way try out the boyfriend jean. Oversized tops detract from the look will add pounds.
3) Don't forget the belt! The boyfriend jeans looks best when you tuck in your top so you'll need a belt to complete your outfit. We like a wider vintage leather belt to play up the boyfriend concept.
4) Shoes, shoes shoes! Since this style is cuffed or rolled (hitting above the ankle), you really have to think about your shoe choice. Our favorites include a femine pair of heals, ballet flats and this season's gladiator styles. We would avoid ankle boots and tennis shoes.
If you follow these simple rules, you'll be able to wear this style confidently in the coming season. The new Tomboy jean from See Thru Soul is a fantastic boyfriend jean that's incredibly comfortable and at $78 is super easy on the budget!
